Am I the only one disappointed to see that Courtwood Playground does not seem to feature on the list of playgrounds about to be upgraded to make our kids more active? We do not have kids ourselves so are not best placed to lobby but if no one bothers, the playground is likely to stay in it's current desolate state. Replying to this message with your support will be a start, e-mailing the council, your local councillors, the Advertiser or whoever would be better still.

For several years I have pressed the council and Margaret Mead to invest in new equipment for this playgrounds, but it seems all the money is being invested off the estate (eg New Addington). For such anice area with a lot of kids, it's a disgrace that the playground has been left in its tatty state. The same applies to the local schools. Courtwood is a lovely school, but there has been no investment.

I totally agree and seeing that the council has recently aquired a large sum of money to update playground equipment I am disappointed to see that none is being spent in our playground. I am currently in the process of writing to the council, local paper etc and think it would be great if we could have a petition from residents of some kind to draw attention to this issue.

Count me in. Although my kids are getting that bit older. Over the years, it's fallen to rack and ruin. Try contacting Margaret Mead to bear pressure on the council. It seems that Forestdale is considered too middle class to get anything from the council. Eg streets cleaned only once a month, little money invested in the schools etc etc

On Thursday I hear a petition signed by hundreds of local children, parents and teachers was handed in to the council in a bid to secure a grant to improve Courtwood Playground. It will be included with the official application for the Playbuilders grant. Let's hope it will be successful. And well done to everyone!
