Does anybody have any views or "inside information" regarding the council footpaths running through the estate?
A month or so ago, some thieves arrived on my part of the estate on a stolen motorbike. The police were in hot pursuit, but I do think that if there were closed (not necessarily locked) gates and if these footpaths belonged to the estate rather than the council, it would be more difficult for yobs to gain entry to our cars and garages.

Most of the public paths run between (rather than through) individual estates and hence could not be gated under a particular company. Another aspect to think about is any alternative routes which might be used. Unless you gate them all, the problem remains unsolved. Bear in mind that access might be gained across open ground, not necessarily just along paths. Not an easy problem to solve, I fear.
