As a Trustee of one of the Management Companies, I find that any snowfall brings complaints from some residents over 'slow' snow clearance in the common part of the estate. Our gardeners attend once a week (we are one of smaller estates) and with little else to do at this time, snow clearance is all they do and it takes all their allocated time. But if they've been on Tuesday and it snows Wednesday, that means almost a week without snow being cleared. And if the snow is so bad they cannot get to the estate, it may be a few days more. What are we supposed to do about it - we are NOT sheltered accomodation and do not have a resident caretaker. All we can hope for is neighbours helping out those less able by either clearing their paths or offering to run their urgent errants.

It was lovely to see the very few friendly neighbours helping out during the recent snow, especially the 2 blokes who helped me park my car on Linton Glade when I was sliding everywhere - big thank you. One of my neighbours very kindly managed to get some sand and gritted the whole of my road (small section of sorrel Bank) and the garages, which was a blessing to come home too. However, sadly, the person who lives above me insists on only clearing her side of our joint step. We all need to pull together, help each other, and in doing so, meet our friendly neighbours and actually talk to them!!
